Shooter
(21:00) Hermosa Beach, CA

Set in present day South Central Los Angeles, SHOOTER is the suspenseful story of a single day in the life of Tasha Johnson, a young, talented teenager. She is put to the test when the Police question her about her sister Monica's whereabouts and possible connection to a crime. Tasha protects her older sister and vouches for her before knowing anything about her sister's guilt or innocence. As Tasha peels away the layers of the world around her, she learns what the price of her loyalty could be, and how far a person can go to protect their family.

With, “SHOOTER,” the filmmakers have tried to bring the story to the screen with as much of a sense of reality as possible. This initial idea was expanded on in discussions between Cinematographer John O’Shaughnessy and Director Todd Jeffery and soon it became apparent that it would be crucial for this realism to be achieved on screen through a specific visual approach. Although clearly a Narrative film, the style draws much inspiration from the Documentary genre. Primarily due to the subject matter and heavily dramatic themes this effort was made to balance the content with a visual approach that may allow the viewer to witness the story unfold for Tasha without imposing on it. It was in this approach that the both filmmakers and actors were able to flourish, each bringing a combination of craft and true emotion to their respective roles on the film. And thus, giving us results on the screen that we are all very proud of.
