Welcome to the Sac Music Seen, an original program for the Sacramento Film and Music Festival that pairs local filmmakers and musicians to make music videos. Bands submit their music and filmmakers provide the images, and in the past four years the festival has showcased nearly 75 audiovisual collaborations at the Crest.

The Sac Music Seen is currently seeking filmmakers and musicians for the 2008 program set for August. If you would like to submit music click here. If you would like to participate as a filmmaker please contact questions@sactofilmfest.com with your contact information.

The filmmaker listening part has been set for April 26th, 2008 at the Arts Institute of Sacramento. The meeting will start at 1:00PM. The Arts Institute of Sacramento is located at 2850 Gateway Oaks Dr., Sacramento, CA (off I-5 & El Camino). New filmmakers are welcome and if you have any questions call (916) 600-7029.

The Process

1. Bands and musicians submit their original music tracks (extended deadline - April 21, 2008).
2. The Sacramento Film and Music Festival will hold a listening party where all music submissions are sampled for local filmmakers.
3. Filmmakers rate music based on their interest in working with the music artist.
4. The Sacramento Film and Music Festival pairs musical acts with filmmakers based on review forms (not all music submissions will be selected).
5. Video production begins.
Musicians will have TWO chances for valuable exposure from the Sac Film & Music Festival experience!

Submitted music tracks will be provided to participating filmmakers, who will select their favorites and create a video using them as inspiration. If your music is not selected for this program, it will be provided to participants of the festival's 10x10 Film Challenge for possible scoring purposes. The 10x10 Film Challenge is a competition where filmmakers are given 10 days to complete a 10-minute film.

All videos completed through this process are shown as part to the Sacramento Film and Music Festival as a special program called the Sac Music Seen. The Sac Music Seen will be shown at the Crest Theatre the night of August 9, 2008. The festival reserves the right to pull any video from the program, though we have never exercised this right and will try to allow completed videos in the event.
