Thanks to all who helped make last year's festival a success!
The 17th ACB Sacramento Film and Music Festival returned for its second year with an
impressive line-up of films from around the world, including a handful of Sacramento-produced
material. The festival took place Friday, August 10 through Sunday, August 12 at the
historic Crest Theatre in Downtown Sacramento, and showcased over 60 short and feature
films and videos of all genres; live musical performances from nine bands, both local and
from outside the region; a filmmakers symposium; a directors Q & A session; and more.
Presented by Standard 17, ACB Productions and the Sacramento News & Review, the event was
enjoyed by filmmakers, musicians, film fans, music lovers, and those simply curious to see
what the festival was all about. Thanks to those who attended for all their support.
We'd like to extend a special thanks to all the filmmakers who were able to attend, some of
whom traveled long distances to be with us. We were proud to screen their creations and
listen to their many interesting, insightful, and often poignant comments about the very
personal art of filmmaking. Thanks also to our symposium panelists who offered an informative
and highly entertaining discussion about organizing independent film efforts. And finally,
thanks to all the bands who performed over the weekend; they played their hearts out and put
on an incredible show.
Congratulations to Irene Turner and Thomas Coker,
who won the Audience Awards (in the form of championship wrestling belts) for their films
The Girls' Room and A Day Between.
We're pleased that they could both be present to accept their awards, and they really seemed
to enjoy their unconventional prizes. Congratulations also to Martin Bedogne and Brent
Scarpo who won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Feature for Journey to
a Hate Free Millennium, and to Aaron Erimez, whose Ornaments
won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Short.
We expect that next year's festival will be even better as we continue to stimulate local interest
in the arts while supporting and promoting independent filmmaking and musicianship worldwide.
